1. Hong Kong is not the capital of China

Explanation:

Hong Kong is a small area surrounding the city of Hong Kong. This area is disputed for quite some time now, and it is not really clear what its status actually is. The dispute about Hong Kong is between China and the Western countries, as well as the citizens of Hong Kong itself.

The people of Hong Kong, at least the majority of them, want independence, and in many ways this area resembles an independent nation. On the other hand, China considered Hong Kong as part of its own territory, so there is Chinese presence all the time, especially police and military forces to keep things under control. The West is opposing the Chinese politics, and they support Hong Kong to be independent. All of this leads to a real mess when it comes to the politics of this place.

Hong Kong is a city that is the capital of the area of Hong Kong, while the capital of China is Beijing. Other disputed territories in which China is involved are:

  • Macau
  • Taiwan
  • the northwestern part of India
  • the northeastern part of India

2. The continent that directly touches Asia is Europe.

Explanation:

Asia is the largest continent on the planet, but despite that, it doesn't have many land boundaries with other continents. In fact, the only other continent with which Asia has a direct land border is Europe, at the Caucasus Mountains and Ural Mountains. There are few other continents that are very close, and there almost is a land boundary, but because of only few km there isn't because of water physically separating them.

Asia and Africa for example are separated by the Suez Canal, thus there is no land boundary between them. Between Asia and North America lies the Bering Strait. Between Asia and Australia there is water as well, as that part of Asia is dominated by islands.

Some characteristics of Asia are:

  • It is the largest continent on the planet
  • It has the highest population on the planet
  • It is the home of the first civilization
  • It is the home to all of the big religions
