Explanation:

The original reason why the Electoral college was created was to basically get a more educated vote from each state. Meaning, each state has a few "educated representatives" to decide on the final vote for president. But this was back when the majority of the country was, to a degree, mainly uneducated (farmers, most of the poorer classes, etc.) Poorer people still had the right to vote but the people who framed the Constitution put the Electorial College into effect to make sure the uneducated didn't take over the country, vaguely put. But now, basically everyone is educated and with new technologues like social media we all know what has been going on in politics. We, as a middle class, aren't ignorant anymore so we don't need the Electoral College. The representatives for our states might elect a president for their own personal gain. But, if elections were only based on the popular vote, the elected canidate that is best for the people vote be voted in.
