Which character relationship in The Tempest is the best example of how colonizers used language as power ? OA Sebastian and Anto
lakkis [162]

Answer:D. Stephano and Trinculo referring to Caliban as their pet monster.

Explanation:

Caliban is an animal-like creature in Shakespeare's <em>the Tempest.</em> When Prospero arrives at the island, he enslaves Caliban and educates him. Caliban, however, remains defiant and his disruptive behavior does not change. Apart from his strange appearance, Caliban curses and hates his master.

In <em>Act II, Scene II</em>, Stephano and Trinculo discuss selling Caliban as an attraction in England for a piece of silver. They refer to Caliban as <em>'a strange fish'.</em> This demonstrates their dominance over Caliban - they act as colonizers who possess him, and have a right to do whatever they want with him:

(Trinculo) ''<em>A strange fish! Were I in England now, as once I was, and had but this fish painted, not a holiday fool there but would give a piece of silver.''</em>

How is a root word used to understand a text?
Nostrana [21]

A root word provides the foundation for a word's meaning, which is the fourth option. A root word is the basic word without adding any suffixes or prefixes. New words can be made from a root word, and their meanings are going to vary based on the prefixes or suffixes added to the noun. When a root word is found in a text, the context might take the reader to the origin of the word and make the reader better aware of the use and signification in a sentence or paragraph.

What are the similarities and differences between Scout and Atticus from the story "To Kill a Mocking Bird"?
vodka [1.7K]
Scout is the daughter of Atticus. They both show that they don’t judge people, as shown when Atticus accepts the trial of a man that was wrongly accused.

Scout has a basic faith in the goodness of people in her community. As the novel progresses, this faith is tested by the hatred and prejudice that emerge during the trial. She eventually develops a more grown-up perspective that enables her to appreciate human goodness without ignoring human evil.

Atticus instilled this strong sense of morality and justice into his children. He is one of the few residents in his community to support racial equality. When he accepts the trial to defend Tom Robinson, he exposes himself and his family to the anger of the white community. With his strongly held convictions, wisdom, and empathy, Atticus functions as the novel’s moral backbone.

In other words, both Atticus and Scout have a strong sense of morality. Atticus is wiser than Scout is, and has a deeper understanding of morality than Scout does. Throughout the novel, Scout grows and learns a better concept of morality and a better concept of people.
