Nativism - This is the belief that people who were born in a place should be favored instead of immigrants. For example, this used to be popular in the early 1900s, as many people thought that immigrants would take their jobs. During this time, many Chinese people were immigrating to the United States for work, but when work started to run dry, many Americans did not want them to immigrate there anymore. This then caused the Chinese Exclusion Act, which banned immigration from China.
Assimilation - This is where people of other cultures try to take in the values and culture of the majority in a society. Cultural Preservation - This is where culture is preserved. Culture is and has always been a very important thing to people and preserving it is important as well. This makes it so the culture can be passed on for generations to come and it will never be lost. It can be preserved by sharing your culture with others, creating things that represent your culture, preserving sacred lands that have to do with your culture, or many other ways.
