Given:

The diagram of a figure with sides 14 ft, 30 ft, 21 ft and 18 ft.

To find:

The area of the figure.

Solution:

From the given figure it is clear that if we cut a corner of a rectangle, then we get the same figure.

The sides of a the rectangle are 30 ft and 21 ft.

The height of the triangular part is (30 ft - 18 ft)  and the base is (21 ft - 14 ft).

So, the height of the triangular part is 12 ft and the base is 7 ft.

The area of the rectangle is:

A_1=length\times width

A_1=30\times 21

A_1=630

The area of the triangular part is:

A_2=\dfrac{1}{2}\times base \times height

A_2=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 12 \times 7

A_2=6 \times 7

A_2=42

Now, the area of the given figure is:

A=A_1-A_2

A=630-42

A=588

Therefore, the area of the given figure is 588 sq. ft.

The focus of a parabola is (0, -3) and the directrix is y = 3. What is the equation of the parabola?
mart [117]
Focus has coordinates (0, a)
a = -3
Thus, 4a = 4(-3) = -12

Because a is negative, we know it will be a concave down or concave left parabola. Hence, A and D can be eliminated. And we know it has to be B because the directrix is the horizontal line y = 3. Hence, the equation of the parabola becomes:

x^{2} = -12y or y = -\frac{1}{12}x^{2}

Erin opened a savings account that earns 3% simple interest. If she deposits $2,750 and doesn't make any additional deposits or
Genrish500 [490]

Answer:

$3,245

Step-by-step explanation:

For a money saved at Simple Interest,

Amount =Simple Interest+Principal

Principal, P=$2750

Rate, r=3%

Time, T=6 Years

Simple \: Interest= \frac{Principal X Rate X Time}{100}

= \frac{2750X 3 X 6}{100}=$495

Therefore, Amount in Erin's Account after 6 years =2750+495

=$3,245

Water flows from a tank with a rectangular base measuring 80cm by 70cm into another tank with a squarebase of side 60cm. If the
defon

Answer:

70cm

Step-by-step explanation:

,

Since, both of the tank posses the same quantity of water then there volume is the same thing

For rectangular base

Volume= (Lenght × breadth × hheight)

If we substitute values

Lenght= 80 cm

Breadth= 70 cm

height= 45 cm

Volume= 80cm × 70cm × 45cm

Volume= 252000cm^3

For square base

Volume= (side)^2 × height

side =60cm.

But volume of square base= volume of

rectangular base

252000cm^3= 60^2 × height

Height= (252000cm^3)/(60^2 )

Height= 70 cm

Hence, the second tank is 70 cm deep

Molodets [167]

Answer:

because it is 3/4 of the entire bag, there has to be a Ratio:

3:4 = 4.5:w

\frac{3}{4}   \frac{4.5}{w}

cross mult.

3w= 4.5(4)

3w = 18

divide 3 both sided

18/3=6

w=6

6lbs of food.

Therefore, your ans is 6lbs of dog food
