The most accurate description of <em>Songhai</em> under <em>Askia Muhammad</em> <em>was a powerful trading empire that stretched from the Atlantic Ocean across much of West Africa along the Niger River</em>. In the late 15th century<em> Askia Muhammad</em> became the emperor, military commander, and political reformer of the <em>Songhai </em>Empire. He was a devout Muslim where under his rule, Islam became an essential part of the empire. He was able to conquer much of the surrounding lands and was able to take control of the gold and salt trade from the <em>Mali </em>Empire. At its peak, the<em> Songhai </em>empire stretched over 1,000 miles from the current modern day country of Niger to the Atlantic Ocean.
In that conference, the borders of new nations were artificially drawn. They didn't take into account the real situations and that negatively impacted the Middle East.
During the American revolution, the Patriots side was heaviliy outnumbered by The British. On top of that, the patriot's weapons were also inferior.
In such a desperate moment, the patriots decided to obtain any help that they can, by opening an opportunity for African Americans (from both northern and southern sides) to join the Revolution army in order to achieve freedom from the British.
