The cold war lasted from 1945 (with end of the Second World War) to 1991 with the fall of the Soviet Union. It had many consequences as the Arms Race which led to the increased number of nuclear bombs and the Proxy war in which the superpowers didn't fight each other directly but used other countries to fight wars. Proxy Wars were the Korean war, the Vietnam war, the Yon Kippur war and the Soviet Afghanistan war. During this period there was also the space race which America won when Neil Armstrong put a step on the moon.
