Say “I can” or say “I can’t,” and you’re right either way-what does this idiom mean?
Alex_Xolod [135]
I think that this means what you say determines your future. If you look at something that scares you and say you can't do it, you said the truth because you convinces yourself that you're incapable. But if you say you can do it, you will be willing to keep on trying until you get it right. Hope this helped. :D

Which of the following sentences is written in the active voice?
alex41 [277]

Answer:

C. The chairman told me that the legislature passed the bill.

Explanation:

The name of voice is given to the form assumed by the verb to indicate if the grammatical subject is agent or patient of the action that the verb is referring to. In this way, active voice occurs when the subject is an agent, that is, when the subject practices the action expressed by the verb.

In case of alternative C, in the sentence "The chairman told me that the legislature passed the bill." The subject of the phrase "the chairman" is the agent of the action shown by the verb "told".

That is, who is telling me that the legislature approved the bill? The chairman!

Which fictional character would you allude to? Why?
Dvinal [7]

Answer:

I would allude to Elizabeth Bennet's "Pride and Prejudice".

Explanation:

The word "allude" means to make a brief reference to something or someone. In that case I imagine that I would like to write a text where I have alluded to Elizabeth Bennet of "Pride and Prejudice". That's because she represents a strong female character with her own ideas and strong reasoning at a time when women were discouraged from thinking by themselves and exposing their ideas.

This character would fit very well as a reference in a text on the right and respect for women.
