Along with James Madison and John Jay, Alexander Hamilton penned the  Federalist Papers and while signing the new constitution he was worried about the fact that the government under this constitution would become too democratic, whereas, George Mason, (who was also a representative to the  Constitutional Convention of 1787) refused to sign the new constitution on the basis that the new constitution was not democratic enough.
