Answer: Look at the explanation.

Explanation: An environmental consequence could be our land. The more land we use for agriculture results in loss of biodiversity. Slash-and-burn kills many trees and plant life. These trees are home to many small animals and now they are homeless and will die unless they adapt and find a new land. A social consequence could be food deserts. Food deserts are caused by and increase poverty and starvation. Nonexistent stores in rural areas do not help the population. People starve and barely have another way of getting healthy food. They rely on fast food chains which do not help with health.

During political campaigns before an election, the news media is said to cover the campaigns like a horse race. Which of the fol
kvv77 [185]

The statement candidates will be fixed up and trained for the election, as racing horses will be fixed up and trained best explains the reason for this analogy.

Option- C.

<u>Explanation: </u>

The "horse-race" or "gambling framework" story is a popular electoral coverage. "From decades of research we know that media aim to watch elections through competitive lens," Lawrence said.

"Campaigns are portrayed in many respects, including sports events, with an emphasis on who wins, who loses, who's up and who's down, whether we go forward or back in the elections." In addition to political bias, reporters across different media outlets promote biasing views by distilling in simple texts complex campaigns and issues.

What are the ""agencies"" to which Rachel Carson refers (para. 33)? Why are they reduced to ""so-called control agencies""?
yarga [219]

Answer:

The agencies being referred in Rachel Carson's <em>"Silent Spring"</em> are the state and federal agencies.

They are being reduced to the "so-called control agencies" because they don't really know much about the <em>effects of chemical insecticides</em> and how <em>potentially dangerous </em>they are to living things, yet they are the ones who allow its distribution to people.<u> They control the insects in the world</u> by allowing spraying operations, however they don't have any idea on how much damage they are causing to the world. Carson reduced this agencies <u>because they were spreading </u><u><em>"misinformation."</em></u>

Explanation:

"Silent Spring" was a book that stirred the public's attention. It talks about the bad effects of using chemical pesticides to the environment. Many critics opposed the book, yet it was able to move the Congress. This resulted to the operation of the Environmental Protection Agency in <em>1970.</em>
