-The Roman Republic and the United States both have a Representative democratic system. The citizens vote a representative to elect a new leader.

-Roman and American system had the power to veto. The President has the power to veto and in Rome the two consoles have the power to veto

-The American and Roman system have a balanced power between separate branches of the government

-Roman Senators were in office for life as for American senators stay in office for 6 years

-The Roman law code was written in 12 tables whereas the American law code is written in the constitution
