It was the first election to have two presidential nominees. It also was the only election where the president and the vice president were elected from opposite parties.
The building was proposed by <span>Sun-Yat Sen, the father of modern China because he wanted to protect local Chinese communities from floods that were common. He would use a dam to prevent floods and would also use it to use the river differently in such a way that it would benefit the economic development plan of China.</span>
