Explain the structure of the government in ancient Athens. How did this system compare with the one used in the ancient city-sta
mariarad [96]

Answer:

1A   One way that Athens and Sparta really differed was in their idea of getting along with the rest of the Greeks. Sparta seemed content to keep to itself and provide army and assistance when necessary. Athens, on the other hand, wanted to control more and more of the land around them. This eventually led to war between all the Greeks.

Explanation:

1B    Sparta was ruled by two kings, who ruled until they died or were forced out of office. Athens was ruled by archons, who were elected annually. Thus, because both parts of Athens' government had leaders who were elected, Athens is said to haveThe two rivals of ancient Greece that made the most noise and gave us the most traditions were Athens and Sparta. They were close together on a map, yet far apart in what they valued and how they lived their lives.

2  Athenian life was a creative wonderland. As an Athenian, you could get a good education and could pursue any of several kinds of arts or sciences. You could serve in the army or navy, but you didn't have to. (This applied only to boys, however: Girls were restricted to other pursuits, not war or business or education.

irakobra [83]

Answer:

Europe is the second-smallest continent. Only Oceania has less landmass. Europe extends from the island nation

of Iceland in the west to the Ural Mountains of Russia in the east. Europes northernmost point is the Svalbard

archipelago of Norway, and it reaches as far south as the islands of Greece and Malta.

Europe is sometimes described as a peninsula of peninsulas. A peninsula is a piece of land surrounded by water

on three sides. Europe is a peninsula of the Eurasian supercontinent and is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the

north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean, Black, and Caspian Seas to the south.

Europes main peninsulas are the Iberian, Italian, and Balkan, located in southern Europe, and the Scandinavian

and Jutland, located in northern Europe. The link between these peninsulas has made Europe a dominant

economic, social, and cultural force throughout recorded history.

Explanation:

Uplands, also known as the Northern Highlands, curve up the western edge of Europe and define the

physical landscape of Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, and Denmark), Finland, Iceland, Scotland, Ireland, the

Brittany region of France, Spain, and Portugal.

The Western Uplands is defined by hard, ancient rock that was shaped by glaciation. Glaciation is the process of

land being transformed by glaciers or ice sheets. As glaciers receded from the area, they left a number of distinct

physical features, including abundant marshlands, lakes, and fjords.

How is the power of the judicial branch kept in check?
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

The authors of the Constitution wanted to be sure that

no person or group would seize power and control

the American government. To insure that this would

not happen, our United States government, under

the Constitution; was divided into three parts: the

executive, the legislative, and the judicial. Each of

these three branches has a check on the powers of

the others. These checks provide a system of balance

in our government, and that is why we call the system

checks and balances.

You may also hear this system referred to as a

separation of powers. Although not directly mentioned

in the. Constitution, the first three articles mark the

responsibilities of the executive, legislative; and

judicial branches. It gives some power to each branch

of government instead of giving all the power to one

branch.

These are the most important checks and balances:

1. Executive branch has the power to check the

legislative branch by vetoing laws that Congress

wants to pass

2. Legislative branch may check the executive branch

by passing laws over the veto by two-thirds vote in

each house.
