well saying that the sun dose create heat it wouldn't do as much
considering the fact that is it freezing there it would be like 20% heat from the sun and 80% cold im not sure if this helps
Due to the Atlantic Jet Stream, cold water is carried from the Antarctic all the way down to the Caribbean and it turns into warmer water, then that said water is carried up back north towards the Antarctic, carrying that warm water with it, warming the surrounding air as it moves northward.

I believe we probably could if we use a cleaner source of energy such as solar power. It's renewable and almost unlimited.
