B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator were used as strategic bombers, and B-29 Superfortress was developed for strategic bombing of Japan. In the initial period of the war, they were replaced by M3 Stuart light tanks and the hastily designed M3 Lee medium tanks.
