Its mass decreased 40%

6.5 - 3.9 = 2.6

2.6 / 6.5 = 0.4

0.4 = 40%

Percent decrease = (decrease in weight / original weight) * 100

= [ (6.5 - 3.9) / 6.5] * 100

= (2.6 / 6.5) * 100

=  0.4 * 100

= 40 %   answer)

Two squares are attached to the sides of a quarter circle as shown.
olya-2409 [2.1K]
Area of a square is ; 10 * 10 = 100
We have 2 squares so total is 200.

Area of a circle is pi* r^2 = 3.14 * 100 = 314
But we have quarter of a circle so area will be 314/4 = 78.5

Total area of the shape is 200 + 78.5 = 278.5

What is the sum of the first five terms of a geometric series with a1 = 6 and r = 1/3?
tresset_1 [31]
The sum of the terms of a geometric sequence with common ratio lesser than 1 is calculated through the equation,

                                  Sn = (a1) x (1 - r^n) / (1 - r)
Substituting the known values,
                                 S5 = (6) x (1 - (1/3)^5) / (1 - 1/3) = 242/27
Thus, the sum of the first five terms is approximately equal to 8.96.
