What are the x and y-intercepts of the line described by the equation?
tatuchka [14]

Answer: x=4.41 y= -7.35

Step-by-step explanation:

Pretty basic just graph them using Desmos...

Showing your work you would need to get x on one side then y on the other.

Because 3y is positive I personally like to use that one first. The inverse operation of 3y is divide so you divide 3y by 3 and the 3s cancel out. Divide -22.05 by 3 and you get -7.35. Which is your y value.

Finding X is a bit more difficult, you need to divide by -5 which is the obvious inverse operation. So, -22.05/-5 and you get 4.41. Which is your X value.

Do the equations x + y = -2 and 3x + 3y = −6 define the same line? Explain.
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer:

Yes, they do.

Step-by-step explanation:

They both pass through the same points of -2 on the x and y axis.

. Approximate each of the following logarithms to four decimal places. Use the LOG key on your calculator rather than logarithm
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

log_2(6)=2.584

Step-by-step explanation:

Here the logarithm has base 2

log_2(3^2)=log_2(6)

Let

log_2(6)=x

log_ya=x\\\Rightarrow y^x=a

\\\Rightarrow 2^x=6

Now, take logarithm to the base 10

log 2^x=log6\\\Rightarrow xlog2=log6\\\Rightarrow x=\frac{log6}{log2}\\\Rightarrow x=2.584

So, log_2(6)=2.584

How do you check is the equation is a extraneous solution pr not?
vampirchik [111]

We can check the equation is an extraneous solution or not by finding the solution and plugging it in the equation, to verify it.

<h3>What is the extraneous solution?</h3>

In mathematics, an extraneous solution is a solution that comes from the process of solving the problem but is not a genuine solution to the problem, such as the answer to an equation.

As we know from the definition the extraneous solution is a solution that comes from the process of solving the problem but is not a genuine solution to the problem.

Let's suppose the equation is:

\rm \sqrt{x+4} = x -2

Squaring both the sides:

x + 4 = (x - 2)²

x + 4 = x² - 4x + 4

x² -5x = 0

x = 0 or x = 5

Checking for the solution by plugging in the equation;

\rm \sqrt{5+4} = 5 -2

3 = 3

\rm \sqrt{0+4} = 0 -2

2 ≠ -2

The solution x = 0 shows extraneous solution.

Thus, we can check the equation is an extraneous solution or not by finding the solution and plugging it in the equation, to verify it.
