Use an inequality:
S = sum

7 + 7 < S < 8 + 9
14 < S < 17

so the sum is between 14 and 17

A heated piece of metal cools according to the function c(x) = (.5)x − 11, where x is measured in hours. A device is added that
e-lub [12.9K]
16.5 degrees below the starting temp, whatever that is. If its 0, then -16.5 degrees.

The first equation would be (.5)5-11=-8.5, because the metal has been cooling for 5 hours.

The device that 'aids' in the cooling would be -5-3=-8, because it is a separate variable that cools the metal, so the amount the device cools is independent of the natural cooling amount, and the equation is independent of the natural cooling equation.
You then add -8.5 and -8, because the device has lowered 8.5 degrees and 8 degrees. This equals -16.5 degrees, or a decrease of 16.5 degrees.

{\qquad\qquad\huge\underline{{\sf Answer}}}

The given figure shows a vertical hyperbola with its centre at origin, and as we observe the figure, we can conclude that :

Length of transverse axis is :

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: 2b = 12

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: b = 6

length of conjugate axis is :

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: 2a = 8

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: a = 4

Equation of hyperbola ~

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \:    \cfrac{ {y}^{2} }{ {b}^{2} } - \cfrac{  {x}^{2} }{ {a}^{2} }  = 1

plug in the values ~

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \:    \cfrac{ {y}^{2} }{ {6}^{2} } - \cfrac{  {x}^{2} }{ {4}^{2} }  = 1

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \:    \cfrac{ {y}^{2} }{ {36}^{} } - \cfrac{  {x}^{2} }{ {16}^{} }  = 1

What is the image of (2,3)(2,3) after a reflection over the line y=-xy=−x?
otez555 [7]

Answer:

After the reflection over the line  y = -x, the image of the point is: (-3,-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

When a given point is reflected over a line the point only changes place but the distance between the point and the line remains same.

Let (x,y) be a point on the plane

and

y = -x be a line on the plane

When a point is reflected over a line y = -x , the coordinates of the point are exchanged which means x becomes y and y becomes x and both are negated

So (x,y) will become (-y,-x)

Given point is:

(2,3)

After the reflection over the line  y = -x, the image of the point is: (-3,-2)
