Rock salt is also known as halite. It is different to sea salt because it is already found in a solid form and then mined. Table salt (refined salt) can also be produced from solid salt which is found underground and then refined to remove any impurities.

The most obvious difference between the two is that rock salt consists of larger grains than table salt, which is usually finely ground.
