Does the function satisfy the hypotheses of the Mean Value Theorem on the given interval? f(x) = 3x2 − 2x + 1, [0, 2] Yes, it do

es not matter if f is continuous or differentiable, every function satisfies the Mean Value Theorem. Yes, f is continuous on [0, 2] and differentiable on (0, 2) since polynomials are continuous and differentiable on . No, f is not continuous on [0, 2]. Answer:

Yes , function is continuous in [0,2] and is differentiable (0,2) since polynomial function are continuous and differentiable

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the Function

f(x) =3x^2 -2x +1

The two basic hypothesis of the mean valued theorem are

  • The function should be continuous in [0,2]
  • The function should be differentiable in (1,2)

upon checking the condition stated above on the given function

f(x) is continuous in the interval [0,2] as the functions is quadratic and we  can conclude that from its graph

also the f(x) is differentiable in (0,2)

f'(x) = 6x - 2

Now the function satisfies both the conditions

so applying MVT

6x-2 = f(2) - f(0) / 2-0

6x-2 = 9 - 1 /2

6x-2 = 4

6x=6

x=1

so this is the tangent line for this given function.

Joan wants to reduce the area of her posters by one-third. Draw lines to match the original dimensions in the left column with t
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

1) 30\ in\ by\ 12\ in --------> 120\ in^{2}

2) 30\ in\ by\ 18\ in --------> 180\ in^{2}

3) 12\ in\ by\ 15\ in --------> 60\ in^{2}

4) 18\ in\ by\ 15\ in --------> 90\ in^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Verify each case</u>

case 1) 30\ in\ by\ 12\ in

<em>Find the area with the original dimensions</em>

A=30(12)=360\ in^{2}

Reduce the area of the poster by one-third

360/3=120\ in^{2}

therefore

30\ in\ by\ 12\ in --------> 120\ in^{2}

case 2) 30\ in\ by\ 18\ in

<em>Find the area with the original dimensions</em>

A=30(18)=540\ in^{2}

Reduce the area of the poster by one-third

540/3=180\ in^{2}

therefore

30\ in\ by\ 18\ in --------> 180\ in^{2}

case 3) 12\ in\ by\ 15\ in

<em>Find the area with the original dimensions</em>

A=12(15)=180\ in^{2}

Reduce the area of the poster by one-third

180/3=60\ in^{2}

therefore

12\ in\ by\ 15\ in --------> 60\ in^{2}

case 4) 18\ in\ by\ 15\ in

<em>Find the area with the original dimensions</em>

A=18(15)=270\ in^{2}

Reduce the area of the poster by one-third

270/3=90\ in^{2}

therefore

18\ in\ by\ 15\ in --------> 90\ in^{2}

Sladkaya [172]
44 feet. 3600 seconds. 1 mile
----------- ---------------------- -----------
1 second 1 hour. 5280 feet

I wrote it this way so the units cancel out. You are multiplying the fractions by each other

The car is going 30 mph, and will go 120 miles in 4 hours.
