Social Structure

Mesoamerican was split up between nobles, commoners, serfs, and slaves. Nobles were rulers and government officials. Commoners were farmers, laborers, and servants. Serfs worked on land owned by the rulers and government officials. Slaves were mainly criminals or people in debt.

Mesopotamia was made up of land owners, people who were free but did not own land, and slaves. The most privileged had the highest responsibility and if committed a crime would have longer sentence. If a low class committed a crime the punishment was less unless it was committed against a person of a higher class.

Mesoamerica: Visual arts, music, dance, literature, decorative motifs, and iconography.

Mesopotamia: forms of sculpture of stone and clay and many paintings.
