The huckleberry patches will provide a very high level of consumption efficiency.

What is consumption efficiency?

Consumption efficiency refers to the ability of a consumer to be able to derive the maximum level of consumption from a given resource or group of resources.

The huckleberries depend on the animals such as Bears as well as other herbivores for seed dispersal and propagation. These plants have therefore, develop efficient means to encourage dispersal by these animals. The seeds of the Huckleberries are enveloped in sweet, nutritious fruit that is comparatively undefended.

Therefore, the Bears and other herbivores will derive a very high level of consumption efficiency from the Huckleberry patches.

In conclusion, consumption efficiency measures the ability of a consumer to derive maximum consumption. High consumption efficiency implies that the resource provides a great deal of benefit and satisfaction to the consumer.

What is the relationship between ligaments, bones and joints?
kakasveta [241]

Ligaments connect one bone to another bone. Therefore, they allow a joint to form, because joints are where two or more bones connect.

Take your knee joint for instance (***see attached pic***). The knee joint is formed by the connection of the femur (your thigh bone), the tibia (your shin bone), and the fibula (the other long bone in your lower leg). In order for all of these bones to connect there are many ligaments in the knee joint that keep the bones connected and in place. A well known example of one of these ligaments in the knee joint is the ACL (anterior crucate ligament), which is commonly torn in sports, namely football. Most people have heard of this ligament because it receives a lot of media attention since tearing it can greatly alter or even end professional athletes' careers.

Describe the cell-surface events leading to neutrphil movement to site of infection.
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

Neutrophils help fight infections because they ingest microorganisms and secrete enzymes that destroy them. A neutrophil is a type of white blood cell, a type of granulocyte and a type of phagocyte.

Explanation:

Neutrophils display adhesion glycoproteins on their surface to bind endothelial and subendothelial structures. They move randomly until they find a damaged site. Unless neutrophils are activated, endothelial cells do not tend to adhere. When inflammation mediators (IL-1, FNT) activate endothelial cells, they express P-selectin and E-selectin on the surface. The expression of glycoproteins and L-selectin cause the initial adhesion of the non-stimulated neutrophil to the activated endothelium, slowing it down by rolling it over the endothelium. Activated endothelial cells, opsonized particles, immune complexes, FEC-G, FEC-GM and chemoattractants produce factors that stimulate neutrophil activation. Expressing β2 integrin (endothelium adhesion molecule) Neutrophils expand and form pseudopods. Neutrophil activation also promotes degranulation, superoxide generation, and arachidonate metabolite production.
