the mayan kings wanted to appease their gods and still remain autonomous(self-governing).how is this different than other civili
vfiekz [6]
Mayan rulers and nobles were considered half gods, half humans, and also chosen by the gods themselves to govern, while much of their work was to please and appease the gods, being like a bridge between the gods Mayas and men. This made the Maya think that their rulers actually had contact with the gods and could talk to them, giving a relationship where the Maya and their gods could ensure their understanding and good relationship. In other Mesoamerican groups, it was thought that the deities were very superior and there was no way to contact them, except through sacrifices and prayers of the monarchs and priests; but the Mayans thought that their monarchs, working for the gods, were in harmony and in order with the deity.

Why did African Americans move to the far west?
bulgar [2K]

Answer:

The Great Migration, sometimes known as the Great Northward Migration, or the Black Migration, was the movement of six million African Americans out of the rural Southern United States to the urban Northeast, Midwest, and West that occurred between 1916 and 1970. In every U.S. Census prior to 1910, more than 90 percent of the African-American population lived in the American South. In 1900, only one-fifth of African Americans living in the South were living in urban areas. By the end of the Great Migration, just over 50 percent of the African-American population remained in the South, while a little less than 50 percent lived in the North and West, and the African-American population had become highly urbanized. By 1960, of those African Americans still living in the South, half now lived in urban areas, and by 1970, more than 80 percent of African Americans nationwide lived in cities.
