1- Yangdi, Wendi's son, wanted to expand China's territory, rebuilt the Great Wall, and built the Grand Canal system which helped unite China's economy. It made farmers mad because they had to work on these projects and pay high taxes. The army took control and killed Yangdi and ended the Sui dynasty.

The canal was built in order to easily ship grain from the rich farmland in southern China to the capital city in Beijing. This also helped the emperors to feed the soldiers guarding the northern borders. The Ancient Chinese built early canals to help with transportation and commerce.

2- Chinese imperial examinations were a civil service examination system in Imperial China for selecting candidates for the state bureaucracy. The exams served to ensure a common knowledge of writing, the classics, and literary style among state officials. This common culture helped to unify the empire and the ideal of achievement by merit gave legitimacy to imperial rule. The examination system played a significant role in tempering the power of hereditary aristocracy, military authority, and the rise of a gentry class of scholar-bureaucrats.

3- Buddhism played a dominant role in Tang dynasty China, its influence evident in poetry and art of the period. Buddhist teachings spoke to the concerns of salvation and the release from suffering and flourished during the period of political disunity in China (220-581) after the fall of the Han dynasty.

4- The Mandate of Heaven is a Chinese political and religious teaching that was used in ancient and imperial China to justify the rule of the King or Emperor of China. According to this belief, Heaven embodies the natural order and the will of the just ruler of China, the "Son of Heaven" of the "Celestial Empire".

What are some similarities and differences between the Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights?
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

Similarities:

-The two documents are popular in their countries of origin with the Magna Carta being popular in Britain and the Declaration being popular in the United States.

- The documents were both borne out of rebellion; the Magna Carta was first established after conflicts between the King and rebel barons and the Declaration was established after conflict between the thirteen American states and Great Britain.

-The two documents both sought to assert individual human freedoms and rights.

Differences:

- Where the Declaration confirms that power rests with the people, the Magna Carta asserted that power rests with the sovereign until changes through the Six Statutes sought to limit these powers.

- In the Magna Carta the rights of the people are granted by the government while in the Declaration, people's rights are God given. The Declaration was based on universal principles regarding all human beings but the Magna Carta was based on a particular group of people (barons) but which was later changed to the more inclusive term any freeman.

40 POINTS FOR HELP--!!! Read this presentation on changes occurring during Reconstruction. Then, use the information you have le
sasho [114]

Economy: The reconstruction sought to leave the economy of the southern states, just like the economy of the northern states, however, this should be done through free labor, without the use of slaves. The plan was undoubtedly very beautiful, but it did not happen the way it was established. The southern states suffered a strong economic repression in the first years of the reconstruction and although they managed to reestablish themselves over time, the economy in these states never managed to reach what the economy of the northern states presents.

Politics: The reconstruction sought to limit the participation of southerners in politics, this did happen, but it did not have good results, since there was a great regime of southerners and moments of abuse of power and neglect of northern politicians who believed that southerners needed be punished. In addition, the laws and guidelines established in the region, stimulated the existence of racism and racial segregation, which shows that the reconstruction policy was not able to achieve its objectives.

Education: The idea of reconstruction was to build schools in the south so that people had full access to education. However, no project was carried out that showed the importance of building schools, even if this construction was carried out by northerners. The southerners rejected these schools and destroyed them again for fear that their children would be contaminated with northern ideas and this was yet another failed strategy for the reconstruction of the south.

Editorial:

Although the intention of the reconstruction was good, we can say that it was not carried out efficiently. This is because, the reconstruction failed to diminish the rejection and the feeling of disdain that southerners feel for northerners. This issue should have been an issue discussed during the establishment of reconstruction.

The lack of discussion on this topic meant that the reconstruction strategies that the government presented were rejected by the people, which made all strategies a failure.
