It separated both sides of the country and worsen the relationship of the USA with the Soviet Union.

Explanation:

When the Soviet Union members on the easter side saw that the USA was trying to persuade people into capitalism, they rapidly took action by containing this idea by separating the city from the other and therefore prohibiting the access of resources by land. As a result, the USA and other capitalist countries contributed aid to the west by sending daily flight packed of needed resources.
