3 even whole numbers from 2-6 =2,4,6

2+4+6=12 ÷3=4 (you divide by 3 to get the average as that’s how many numbers you added)

4 odd whole numbers from 1-7=1,3,5,7

1+3+5+7=16 ÷ 4 = 4

Averages are the same

A 3 cm x 3 cm rectangle sits inside a circle with radius of 4 cm.
goblinko [34]

Answer:

41.24cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

See attachment for the figure

First is to find area of rectangle

Given:

Length of rectangle 'l'= 3cm

breadth of rectangle 'b'= 3cm

Area of rectangle= l x b= 3 x 3=> 9cm²

Next is to find the area of the circle

Given:

radius 'r'= 4cm

Area of circle= πr² => π4² =>50.24cm²

Required:

area of the shaded region=?

area of the shaded region=  area of the circle - area of the rectangle

area of the shaded region= 50.24 -9 =>41.24cm²

Therefore, area of the shaded region is 41.24cm²

Two perpendicular lines PQ and QR intersect at (1, -1). If the equation of PQ is x - 2y + 4 = 0, find the equation of QR.
Vinvika [58]

Answer:

2x + y - 1 = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Given

x - 2y + 4 = 0 ( subtract x + 4 from both sides )

- 2y = - x - 4 ( divide all terms by - 2 )

y = \frac{1}{2} x + 2 ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m =  \frac{1}{2}

Given a line with slope m then the slope of a line perpendicular to it is

m_{perpendicular} = - \frac{1}{m} = - \frac{1}{\frac{1}{2} } = - 2 , thus

y = - 2x + c ← is the partial equation of the perpendicular line

To find c substitute (1, - 1) into the partial equation

- 1 = - 2 + c ⇒ c = - 1 + 2 = 1

y = - 2x + 1 ← in slope intercept form

Subtract - 2x + 1 from both sides

2x + y - 1 = 0 ← in general form
