Step-by-step explanation:

In order to properly distribute, multiply the number on the outside of the parenthesis by the numbers on the inside.

Here is an example:

8 (5+8)

8*5=40.

8*8=64.

This simplifies to:

8(5+8)=40+64..

The Distributive Property is quite simple.

The Distributive Property tells us how we can solve expressions in the following form:

a(b+c)

The distributive property is sometimes called the distributive law of multiplication and division.

Let me lay out an example to help you understand this property.

When we see an expression such as 2(4+3), we typically think to solve it like so:

2(4+3)

2(7)

14

This is called using the order of operations (PEDMAS, or whatever you call it.)

With the distributive property or distributive law of multiplication and division, you would instead multiply the '2' by every number in the brackets. This would look like

2(4+3)

2(4)+2(3)

8+6

14

We are distributing the 2 to the 4 and then to the 3.

Just remember, when you use the distributive property, you must always multiply the number outside of the bracket by every number inside the bracket.

Here are some examples for you to try:

4(8+2)

7(2+4)

Answers:

4(8+2)

4(8)+4(2)

7(2+4)

7(2)+7(4)

14+28

3.Simplify the expression. 9xy2 – 11xy2 show your work
GalinKa [24]
Ok so 9x minus 11x you get -2x then the two y^2 cancel each other out to get -2x if the y^2 is separate from the x variable. However if its all one then it would be just 9 minus 11 to get -2 then putting the variable back on the end to get -2xy^2.

Which equation can be solved by using this system of equations?
Pavel [41]
To solve the two sets of equations simultaneously, subtract one equation from the other to obtain
3x^5 + 2x^2 - 10x + 4 - (4x^4 + 6x^3 - 11) = 0
3x^5 - 4x^4 - 6x^3 + 2x^2 - 10x - 7 = 0

This is a polynomial of degree 5 to be solved for zeros.
A graphing calculator will yield 3 real zeros (verifiable by Descartes Rule of Signs).
