- Mecca is the birthplace of the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) which makes it one of the holiest places in Islam.

- The Kaaba, which is also known as the Sacred House, can be found in Mecca. It is believed to be the first place of worship for Allah (God) and it was built by the Ibrahim (Abraham) and Isma'il (Ishmael), who are both prophets according to Islam. The Kaaba is also very holy.

- Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca and it is also one of the 5 pillars in Islam. In Islam. Hajj purifies the ruh (soul) of a Muslim and brings hope in this life and the afterlife.
