Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

For this problem, it says that the company not only shipped packages, but also bought a number of stamps. From the equation 6.70+0.50x, it's fairly easy to say that 6.70 is the packages,

What's not so easy is figuring out whether or not 0.50 is the stamps, or x is. However, there's an easy way to figure it out!

From this one, we would have to use "common sense" (not my words, someone elses). Using "common sense", we have to think, can someone buy 0.50 of a stamp?

Technically yes... But would someone buy 0.5 of a stamp? Not really.

So we can safetly assume that x is the "stamp", and 0.50 is the cost of the stamp.

Hope this helps!

In London today, twice the high temperature was more than five times the high temperature minus eighty-seven. In interval form,
defon

The possible temperatures are represented by (-∝, 29)

How to determine the possible temperatures?

Let the high temperature be x

So, the statement can be represented as:

2x > 5x - 87

Subtract 5x from both sides

-3x > -87

Divide both sides by -3

x < 29

In interval form, we have (-∝, 29)

Hence, the possible temperatures are represented by (-∝, 29)

What is the first step in solving the following equation:

−1\2x − 33 = 33
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

add 33 to both sides

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

- \frac{1}{2} x - 33 = 33 ( add 33 to both sides )

- \frac{1}{2} x = 66 ( multiply both sides by - 2 to clear the fraction )

x = - 132

HELP it's a maths question worth 4 marks
Ksenya-84 [330]

a = 3, b= - 4 and c = - 4

expand the left side using FOIL

(2x + 1)(ax + b) = 2ax² + 2bx + ax + b = 2ax² + x(2b + a) + b

compare the coefficients of expressions on left and right sides.

compare 2ax² + x(2b +a) + b with 6x² - 5x + c

coefficients of x² terms → 2a = 6 ⇒ a = 3

coefficients of x terms → 2b + a = - 5 → 2b + 3 = - 5 → 2b = - 8 ⇒ b = - 4

constant terms c = b = - 4
