Answer:

The treaty of versailles destroyed germany and the only way they could honestly get out of the hole they were thrown is was by starting another war

Now things to ease tensions were during the negotiation of this treaty France was heavy on making Germany pay for taking them over so they really pushed for screwing Germany over now the US was against this knowing it would lead to future conflicts and Great Britain was more middle ground saying they need some punishment but not too much like france is suggesting so the treaty of versailles being more lenient towards germany would've possibly prevented ww2 but at the same time the world was in a global depression due to the 1st war so it was kinda needed in order to bring us out of said depression
