Un muy buen narrador podría ser un mal subastador porque se requieren técnicas de oratoria completamente distintas, con diferentes características y habilidades.

Un buen narrador debe tener una voz clara, agradable, y accesible. La manera de expresarse debe tener el ritmo adecuado para mantener y generar interés, haciendo énfasis en los momentos apropiados para "envolver" a la audiencia.

Un subastador necesita tener la facilidad de hablar rápido, a un ritmo peculiar que repita una y otra vez las características del objeto que se está subastando.  Además, su entonación es muy peculiar.
