In the play “The Crucible”<u> it is said that people of the town Andover, </u>in the close proximity to Salem, <u>grew so angry that they rebelled and finally threw out the court. </u><u>They were revolted by the accusations of witchcraft and did not want people to suffer and die because of the trials. </u>

This is mentioned in Act 4 as the Danforth wonders if the same can happen in Salem after they hear the news from the neighboring town.
