Answer:

 500,000,000,000=5*10^{11}

 0.00000000005=5*10^{-11}

Step-by-step explanation:

By definition, Scientific Notation has the following form:

a*10^n

Where "a" is a number from 0 to 10 (but not including 10) and the exponent "n" is an integer.

To write a number in Scientic Notation form, the decimal point must be located  to the right of the first digit of the number. In order to do that, you need to move the decimal point to the left or to the right.

The exponent "n" indicates how many places you moved the decimal point:

- If you moved it to the right, then "n" is negative.

-  If you moved it to the left, then "n" is positive.

Given these numbers:

a) 500,000,000,000

You need to move the decimal point 11 places to the left. Then:

500,000,000,000=5*10^{11}

b) 0.00000000005

You need to move the decimal point 11 places to the right Then:

0.00000000005=5*10^{-11}

Write 2.3181818 as a mixed number
Marina CMI [18]
We convert 2.3181818 to fraction as follows:

Let x = 2.3181818 . . . . . (1)

as can be seen, the repeating digits are 18

Multiply both sides of equation (1) by 1,000 to get
1,000x = 2318.1818 . . . . . (2)

Also, multiply both sides of equation (1) by 10 to get
10x = 23.181818 . . . . . (3)

Subtract equation (3) from equation (2) to get
990x = 2,295

Thus,
x= \frac{2,295}{990} =2 \frac{7}{22}
