Which function is performed by Earth's magnetic field?

Biology

Answer:

D. Ultraviolet rays from the sun are prevented from reaching Earth.

surface.

Explanation:

What little is known is that the Earth's magnetic field creates the so-called "magnetic shield" that provides protection against some other dangerous forms of radiation, namely cosmic rays and solar wind.

While there is no danger of losing the Earth's gravitational field, the Earth's magnetic field is declining faster than any other geophysical phenomenon. This continuous loss of the Earth's magnetic field, and the associated increase in harmful radiation, are beyond human control.

In garden peas, long stems are dominant to short stems, and yellow seeds are dominants to green seeds, too long/yellow pea plant
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

A) 300

B) 3:1

C) 9 long yellow : 3 long green : 3 short yellow : 1 short green

Explanation:

Long stems (L_) are dominant to short stems (ll)

Yellow seeds (Y_) are dominant to green seeds (yy)

We interbred pea plants with long stems and yellow seeds (L_Y_), but they had a short green parent (llyy) that could have only produced <em>ly</em> gametes, so our plants are heterozygous <em>LlYy</em>.

C) We interbred them LlYy x LlYy. If the two genes are unlinked, this is a typical dihybrid cross and from Mendel's law of independent assortment we know that the offspring will have the following phenotypic ratios:

  • 9/16 L_Y_ (Long, yellow)
  • 3/16 L_yy (Long, green)
  • 3/16 llY_ (short, yellow)
  • 1/16 llyy (short, green)

A) 3/16 × 1600 = 300 plants will be long and green.

B)

9/16 + 3/16 = 12/16= 3/4 plants will be yellow;

3/16 + 1/16 = 4/16= 1/4 plants will be green.

The ratio will be 3 yellow : 1 green

How does nitrogen in fertilizer runoff affect aquatic ecosystems
Sedaia [141]
Effects on Waterways
Fertilizers contain large amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus. When these chemicals runoff agricultural fields into waterways, they can lead to accelerated growth of aquatic plants. Nutrients from fertilizer runoff encourages the growth of nuisance algae through the process of eutrophication.

Kayla is reading the labels on a cereal box at breakfast. One label at the front of the box states that the cereal is a " good s
Bad White [126]

Answer:

Taking into account that the food is "a good source of energy", Kayla would expect to see the highest number of grams per service in carbohydrates

Explanation:

Carbohydrates are molecules considered nutrients that represent the main source of energy for living beings. They are composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, so they are also called carbohydrates.

Glucose, a simple sugar, is the most common energy substrate, capable of oxidizing to synthesize energy in the form of ATP, at the level of the mitochondria.

Carbohydrates can be found in cereals, and when it says on the label "good source of energy" it refers mainly to the high carbohydrate content of the food.

Other options do not apply because:

  • <em><u>Proteins</u></em><em>, constitute the structural and repairing element of the organism, in addition to the transport of biomolecules and regulatory function in the form of enzymes. </em>
  • <em><u>Fat</u></em><em> have a structural function and are the raw material for hormone synthesis, also playing a regulatory role. They provide reserve energy.</em>
  • <em><u>Nucleic acids</u></em><em> are not a source of energy since they are in charge of storing genetic information and protein synthesis.</em>

What are the differences between a prokaryotic and Eukaryotic? and what are their functions?
Mariulka [41]
<span>This is the best i could do hope it helps!

Both organisms are composed of cells and each surrounded by a cell membrane. The largest difference between prokaryotic orgaisms and eukaryotic orgasims is that eukaryotic organisms have a nucleus. They also have organelles.!

The function of prokaryotic:</span><span> Cells with genetic material and cell chemicals are all closed in by a cell wall, and have no organelles or nucleus, are called prokaryotes. Organisms in this group are mainly bacteria.

The function of Eukaryotic: </span><span>Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus,so the cell's DNA is surrounded by a membrane. So, the nucleus holds the cell's DNA and directs the synthesis of proteins and ribosomes, the cellular organelles responsible for protein synthesis.</span>
