(08.03)Consider the following pair of equations:

Mathematics
1 answer:
cestrela7 [59]4 years ago
3 0

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

y = -2x + 8

y = x - 1

solve by substitution

so y = -2x + 8......so sub -2x + 8 in for y back in the OTHER equation

-2x + 8 = x - 1 ........add 2x to both sides

-2x + 2x + 8 = x + 2x - 1.....combine like terms

8 = 3x - 1......add 1 to both sides

8 + 1 = 3x- 1 + 1....combine like terms

9 = 3x .....now divide both sides by 3

9/3 = (3/3)x.....simplify

3 = 1x....which is the same as 3 = x

so now that we know x is 3, sub that back into either of ur original equations to find y

y = x - 1

y = 3 - 1

y = 2

lets check it.....(3,2)

y = -2x + 8                          y = x - 1

2 = -2(3) + 8                       2 = 3 - 1

2 = -6 + 8                          2 = 2 (correct)

2 = 2 (correct)

so ur solution is (3,2) <=====

Answer:

deal with the rectangle first A = l X w

4 X 12 = 48 squared cm

semi circle

Area of a circle πr^2

12/2 = 6, radius = 6

π6^2 = 113.097335

113.097335/2 = 56.5486677

56.5 + 48 = 104.5 squared cm

Points (−3, 5) and (3, 5) on the coordinate grid below show the positions of two players on a tennis court:
Anna35 [415]

Answer:

4.  Player 2's position is Player 1's position reflected across the y-axis; only the signs of the x-coordinates of Player 1 and Player 2 are different.

Step-by-step explanation:

Player 1's position is (-3, 5).

It means that it is 3 units left from the origin and 5 units above the origin.

Player 2's position is (3, 5).

It means that it is 3 units right from the origin and 5 units above the origin.

Hence, the two points are on the same horizontal line bisected by the y-axis.

So, Player 2's position is Player 1's position reflected across the y-axis; only the signs of the x-coordinates of Player 1 and Player 2 are different.
