Answer: The exposition of “The Masque of the Red Death” of course, introduces the setting, the characters, and the basic situation as well as providing some background information: a plague, called “the red death” has “long devastated country.” It is hideous, fatal, and causes those around it much horror and fear of contracting it.

La máscara de la Muerte Roja, originalmente publicada como ” La máscara de la Muerte Roja: una fantasía ” (1842), es una historia corta de Edgar Allan Poe. La historia sigue los intentos del príncipe Prospero de evitar una peligrosa plaga, conocida como la Muerte Roja, escondiéndose en su abadía.

Él, junto con muchos otros nobles ricos, alberga en un gran castillo o abadía y deciden dar  un baile de máscaras dentro de las siete salas de la abadía, cada una decorada con un color diferente. I think the most important element of a story is the plot. To me the plot is what makes the story intriguing and fun to read. Without a plot I would personally find the story boring and wouldn’t want to read it.
