The first step Judy smith would take would be to eat healthy, balanced diet whenever she can. She needs to eat food rich in vegetables and omega 3 fatty acids.  

The next step [two] would be for her to take supplements such as folic acids for the first three months of the pregnancy while she maintains regular vitamin D uptake for the whole of the pregnancy and beyond.  

Step three would be for her to take food hygiene seriously. She needs to wash her hands always before handling food mostly, when she comes out of the toilet. She also needs to wash her utensils, boards and hands after handling raw meat.  

Step four – she needs need to exercise regularly. Brisk walking, and swimming are some of the exercises to help boost her mood whenever she feels low. It would also help protect against pregnancy complications such as high blood pressure

Folic acid would help her reduce possible risk of her baby developing neural tube defect such as spina bifida. Some women do usually take a higher dose of 5mg daily and further arrangement can be made with her GP or midwife.

If a pregnant woman takes alcohol during pregnancy, her baby may have higher chances of experiencing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) that causes developmental disabilities in children.

If she takes drug during pregnancy, or misuse prescribed drugs or over the counter drugs, she may likely harm her baby.
