During childbirth, the baby pushes on the wall of the uterus. This is detected by pressure receptors that signal the brain to re

lease oxytocin. If this is a positive feedback process, select the likely next step.
a. Oxytocin causes the uterus to contract, further stimulating the receptors, and releasing more oxytocin from the brain.
b. Oxytocin causes the uterus to relax, decreasing pressure from the baby so as to maintain homeostasis.

Answer:

Option A) Oxytocin causes the uterus to contract ,further stimulating the receptors that signal the brain to release oxytocin.!

Explanation:

Positive feedback is a mechanism in which the output of a process increases the magnitude of the process which caused that output and this loop continues.

The most common example of the Positive Feedback Mechanism is the child birth. During child birth, the child pushes on the walls of uterus. This stimulates the pressure receptors which send signals to brain to release oxytocin. This oxytocin causes the wall of uterus to contract further, which is again detected by the pressure receptors. This sends signals to the brain again and this process continues in this loop.
