Answer:

The amount of the credit to retained earnings is $1,935,000.

Explanation:

Cost of the machine = $2,580,000

Machine's useful life = 12

Annual depreciation expenses = Cost of the machine / Machine's useful life = $2,580,000 / 12 = $215,000

Since the error is discovered during year 4 (after 3 years), this implies that we have to calculate total depreciation expenses for 3 years first as follows:

Total depreciation expenses for 3 years = Annual depreciation expenses * 3 = $215,000 * 3 = $645,000

The amount of the credit to retained earnings can now be calculated as follows:

Amount of the credit to retained earnings = Cost of the machine - Total depreciation expenses for 3 years = $2,580,000 - $645,000 = $1,935,000

Therefore, the amount of the credit to retained earnings is $1,935,000.

Which of the following is most likely to be characterized by substantial asymmetric information?
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

d.

Explanation:

Asymmetric information refers to when one party in a transaction has a substantial more amount of information than the other party. This being the case it can be said that the scenario that would most likely be classified as this is a wireless service that includes unlimited minutes and texting. This is because the buyer is most likely thinking that they are getting a great deal when in fact the seller/provider has access to information that the buyer does not know, which allows them to provide this deal and still make a great profit.

Flextrola, Inc. , an electronics systems integrator, is planning to sell its next generation product using components sourced fr
DENIUS [597]

With a mean of 1000 and a standard deviation of 600, the probability that the demand is going to be withing 25 percent of its forecast is 0.3230.

a. Mean = 1000

sd = 600

p(1000x 1-25%) - p(1000x 1+25%)

using the z test

d-μ/σ

p(z < \frac{1250-1000}{600} )-p(z < \frac{-1000}{600} )\\\\(z < 0.4167)-(z < -0.4167)

find values using excel sheet formula

NORMSDIST(0.4167) - NORMSDIST(-0.4167)

=m0.6615 - 0.3385

= 0.3230

b. The probability that the forecast would be more than 40 percent

1000x 1+40%

= p(D>1400)

= 1- NormDist(0.667)

= 0.225

c. Cu = 121-72 = 49

Co = 72.50 = 22

The critical ratio calculation

49/22 +49 = 0.6901

Normsinv(0.6901) = 0.496

1000+0.496x600

= 1297

The units that Flextrola has to order is 1297.

d. The expected sales of Flextrola

1200-1000/600

= 0.3333

loss function from z = 0.333 is 0.254

600x0.254 = 152. 4

1000-152.4 = 847.6

the expected sales are 847.6

e 1200- 847.6

= 352. 4

The units of inventory that can be sold is 352.4

How to plan for a turbulent environment surrounding the current pandemic
kompoz [17]

Explanation:

The long-running debate between the ‘rational design’ and ‘emergent process’ schools of strategy formation has involved caricatures of firms' strategic planning processes, but little empirical evidence of whether and how companies plan. Despite the presumption that environmental turbulence renders conventional strategic planning all but impossible, the evidence from the corporate sector suggests that reports of the demise of strategic planning are greatly exaggerated. The goal of this paper is to fill this empirical gap by describing the characteristics of the strategic planning systems of multinational, multibusiness companies faced with volatile, unpredictable business environments. In-depth case studies of the planning systems of eight of the world's largest oil companies identified fundamental changes in the nature and role of strategic planning since the end of the 1970s. The findings point to a possible reconciliation of ‘design’ and ‘process’ approaches to strategy formulation. The study pointed to a process of planned emergence in which strategic planning systems provided a mechanism for coordinating decentralized strategy formulation within a structure of demanding performance targets and clear corporate guidelines. The study shows that these planning systems fostered adaptation and responsiveness, but showed limited innovation and analytical sophistication
