Yes, students should participate in lock down drills. Over 1,300 school shootings have happened in the United States since 1970, which averages to about 26 shootings per year. It is better to be safe than sorry! If children know how to handle and protect themselves, hopefully the amount of tragedies in these shootings will lower.
