How did the public school system change during the time of<br> Reconstruction?
devlian [24]

Answer:

Eric Foner: Freedom had many meanings to people coming right out of slavery. But one of the things that it critically involved was access to education. Most of the Southern states, before the Civil War, made it illegal to teach a slave to read and write. Now, some African Americans did learn to read and write secretly. Some... their master or mistress actually taught them to read and write. But the vast majority had had no access to education at all. And they realized that education was critical to advancement as free people in this society. As well as, many of them, being deeply religious, wanted to be able to read the Bible.

What was the importance of the Nicene Creed?
NNADVOKAT [17]
The Nicene Creed is a "symbol" of Christian belief in all regions and all denominations.

It ultimately explains the Church's teachings about the Trinity and also affirms the historical realities of the life of Jesus Christ. It is based on biblical concepts and truths though it does not directly quote the Scripture.

The Ancient Nicene Creed was accepted by the Catholics, Orthodox, and many Protestants. The Creed was written in AD 325, defined by Church Bishops at the Councils of Nicaea, and was completed in its present form in AD 381, added on by Constantinople.
