The Renaissance in Italy drew from ancient Greek and Roman artwork in addition to the beauty of Catholicism as foci for art. As this movement moved to Northern Europe the focus of detail and realistic anatomy continued. However instead of religious tones, the Northern movement tended toward realism and everyday life.
