The two compounds possible having a molecular formula of C2H6O are ethanol (CH3CH2OH) and dimethyl ether (CH3OCH3). It is the alcohol or the ethanol that will have a higher boiling point between these two because of the intermolecular form that is present in the alcohol. It possess a hydrogen bond which is a result of the attractive forces between the hydrogen atom and an electronegative atom which for this case is an oxygen atom. This type of intermolecular force is a special case of dipole interaction which has great effect on the physical properties of a substance. THis type of bond is much stronger as compare to other intermolecular forces which would lead to a higher boiling point since you need more energy to break the bonds present.<span />

Ethanol which is isomerized with dimethyl ether with the formula

CnH2n + 2O has a higher boiling point because it has hydrogen bonds in its -OH functional group

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Alkane derivatives are compounds derived from alkanes by replacing one / more Homs with functional groups

A function group is a determinant group

Some examples of these functional groups along with their general formulas include:

  • alcohol, -OH, CnH2n + 2O
  • ether, -O-, CnH2n + 2O
  • aldehyde, -COH, CnH2nO
  • ketone, -CO-, CnH2nO
  • carboxylic acid, -COOH, CnH2nO2
  • esters, -COOR, CnH2nO2
  • halide, -x, CnH2n + 1X

In determining the boiling point, if in the same homologous series, then just look at the largest relative molecular mass that will have a large boiling point too. In the form of a straight-chain, the more carbon atoms, the longer the main chain, the bigger the boiling point.

But if the relative molecular mass is the same, the hydrocarbons have more branches that will have a greater boiling point.

The more branches, the lower the boiling point, even though the number of carbon atoms is the same (as in isomers)

In isomers that have the same molecular formula and relative molecular mass, hydrocarbons that have the fewest branches will have the largest boiling point.

So that the general determination of the boiling point is (based on its priority)

  • 1. relative molecular mass

the greater the higher the boiling point

  • 2. main chain branch

the fewer branches the higher the boiling point

The branching on the main chain in the structure causes the attraction between the molecules to be lower so that to release this attractive force only requires low energy, ie at low temperatures

Compounds with molecular formula C₂H₆O can be in the form of ether or alcohol because it has the same molecular formula, CnH2n+2O

This isomer is called a functional group isomer. The two isomers are ethanol and dimethyl ether (methoxymethane)

 The boiling point of ethanol is 78 ° C, while dimethyl ether is only −24 ° C

Physical properties such as boiling point are strongly influenced by the intermolecular interaction force.

This far different boiling point shows that <em>the attraction between ethanol molecules is greater than dimethyl ether.</em>

The difference in boiling points shows that the intermolecular interactions of ethanol are stronger than the intermolecular interactions of dimethyl ether.

The higher boiling point of ethanol is determined by the presence of hydrogen bonds in the OH-function group.

The hydrogen ethanol bond itself is formed because of the large electronegativity difference between Hydrogen and O atoms in its functional group.

Intermolecular bonding of ether is Van Der Waals force in the form of dipole-dipole, which has lower molecular interaction strength than hydrogen bonds in ethanol

julia-pushkina [17]

Answer:

The answer is in the explanation.

Explanation:

A buffer is defined as the aqueous mixture of a weak acid and its conjugate base or vice versa. Buffers are able to avoid the pH change of a solution when strong acid or bases are added (As NaOH).

Based on the experiment, it is possible that the solution Z was a buffer and Y another kind of solution. For this reson, pH of the solution Y changes much more than the pH of solution Z changes despite the amount of NaOH added is the same in both solutions.

THE UGLY DUCKLING

The ugly duckling doesn't fit with the other ducklings and grows up, to be a fabulous bird. In the beginning, he is teased because of his looks, in a quote, "As the ugly duckling grew, many animals in the pond criticized him. His feathers were too dark, his neck was too long, and his body was too big. His fellow ducklings refused to recognize that underneath the feathers, the ugly duckling was kind, good, and gentle. The ugly duckling shed many tears because none of the other animals would play with him."

Near the end, however, it states, "He believed that the swans would never be his friends and looked down into the pond in despair. Then, his eyes opened wide, for he saw his reflection. To his great astonishment, the ugly duckling discovered that he was a beautiful, royal swan! The swans welcomed their new friend, whose lovely appearance was matched only by his kind heart. He now felt like he belonged." Throughout the course of the story, the other birds' views change since now they realize how awful they felt for mistreating the ugly duckling.

THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA

The king and queen didn't believe that she was a princess, so they had her endure the trial of sleeping on twenty mattresses with a pea under the very bottom one. Near the beginning of the story, it states, "The disheveled maiden looked at the king in disbelief. "I am a princess, come to see the prince," she explained, all the while shivering. The king summoned his wife, the queen, for advice. The queen looked at the hideous creature in disbelief, thinking that no princess would ever allow herself to be found in such a state. She thought quickly and came up with a clever plan. The queen put a small pea at the bottom of a bed and piled twenty mattresses on top of it. When the girl arrived at the room, she had to climb a ladder to reach the top of the bed, where she collapsed in exhaustion." This is when the king and queen were in doubt that she was a princess.

However later on it stated, "Bright and early the next morning, the king and queen arrived at the girl's bed-chamber. The queen asked the girl how she had slept the night before. "Absolutely terribly!" bemoaned the maiden. "I have spent the entire night tossing and turning. I don't know whether there is something hard in the bed, or your mattresses are rocks, but my body is black and blue." The queen and the king stared at the maiden in astonishment. Only a real princess would have such delicate skin that she could feel a pea under twenty mattresses. The queen and king brought her to the prince, who was thrilled to meet a real princess with such an independent spirit." As you can see the king and queen believed that she was a princess now because they stated, "Only a real princess would have such delicate skin that she could feel a pea under twenty mattresses."

CONCLUSION
Both stories focus on how the main character is doubted or mistreated because of how they look, but throughout the stories, the main character proves them wrong.

Gold has an atomic weight of 196.97 g/mol, and a density of 19.3 g/cm3. Approximately how many atoms are in a spherical gold nan
ale4655 [162]

<u>Answer:</u> The number of atoms in spherical gold nano particle are 26.918\times 10^4

<u>Explanation:</u>

  • To calculate the volume of sphere, we use the equation:

V=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

where,

r = radius of the sphere = 10nm=10^{-6}cm    (Conversion factor:  1nm=10^{-7}cm )

Putting values in above equation, we get:

V=\frac{4}{3}\times 3.14\times (10^{-6})^3\\\\V=4.19\times 10^{-18}cm^3

  • To calculate mass of of the substance, we use the equation:

\text{Density of substance}=\frac{\text{Mass of substance}}{\text{Volume of substance}}

Volume of gold = 4.19\times 10^{-18}cm^3

Density of gold = 19.3g/cm^3

Putting values in above equation, we get:

19.3g/cm^3=\frac{\text{Mass of gold}}{4.19\times 10^{-18}}\\\\\text{Mass of gold}=8.0867\times 10^{-17}g

  • To calculate the number of moles, we use the equation:

\text{Number of moles}=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}

Mass of gold = 8.8067\times 10^{-17}g

Molar mass of gold = 196.97 g/mol

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\text{Moles of gold}=\frac{8.8067\times 10^{-17}g}{196.97g/mol}=4.47\times 10^{-9}moles

  • According to mole concept:

1 mole of an element contains 6.022\time 10^{23}  number of atom

So, 4.47\times 10^{-19} moles of gold will contain = 4.47\times 10^{-19}\times 6.022\times 10^{23}=26.918\times 10^4 number of atoms.

Hence, the number of atoms in spherical gold nano particle are 26.918\times 10^4
