Billy bought 2 sweatshirts and 3 t-shirts. His friend Jordan bout 3 sweatshirts and 3 t-shirts. Billy's bill was $35 and Jordan'
Olenka [21]
Alright, denote sweatshirts by x and tshirts by y:
for billy: 2x+3y=35$
for jordan:3x+3y=45$
We need to get rid of one of the unknowns inorder to solve, therefore we will subtract the two equations from each other. This will get rid of the y variable(3y-3y=0)
2x+3y=35$
-
3x+3y=45$
=
-1x=-10$
we get rid of the negative, which leaves us with x=10$. Knowing this info, we can now easily calculate y:
2x+3y=35$
2(10)+3y=35$
20+3y=35$
3y=15
y=15/3
y=5
Hope this helps!

Gerald bought a home for $300,000. His largest up–front cost is 10 percent, or $30,000. What is this cost called?
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

The cost is called DOWN PAYMENT. The down payment is an initial payment you have to make when buying something on credt.

The down payment varies depending on the price of what you're buying and  not all credits require a down payment. As an example, I'm attaching an example of a phone you can buy on credit and no downpayment is required.

The down payment is expressed in percentage of the total cost of the item/property you're buying. In Gerald's case, the down payment was 10% of the total value of the house.

Each time they Playa game there's a 90% chance that the blue comets soccer team will score the first goal. What is the probabili
aalyn [17]

Step-by-step explanation:

in 4 straight games ?

game 1 has a probability of 0.9 (= 90%).

for 2 games we have the probability of the first game, and now based on this we have to apply the probability of the second game.

in other words, the desired event has to happen in the first game AND then also in the second game.

since both probabilities are smaller than 1 (0.9), the total probability for 2 games must be less than the probability for 1 isolated game.

to combine such probabilities as "and" events, we have to multiply these probabilities.

so, the probability for 2 games is

0.9 × 0.9 = 0.9² = 0.81

and in the same way we get the probability to score the first goal in 4 games in a row :

0.9⁴ = 0.6561
