a mirror is opaque because it is letting light bounce back if it was transparent is would let all the light pass through the object if its translucent it would let some of the light pass through it.

the mirror is opaque because the light is bouncing back that is why your able to see yourself.

the light bounces off of you to the mirror and than back to you and the space of the room
