the ORGAN that regulates the circulating levels of amino acids, carbohydrates, and lipids is the LIVER

The LIVER is the largest organ in the human body which serves the following major functions:

  • filtration and storage of blood
  • METABOLISM of CARBOHYDRATES, protein (AMINO ACIDS), fats (LIPIDS), hormones and foreign chemicals,
  • formation of bile,
  • storage of vitamins and iron; and
  • formation of coagulation factors.

In the metabolism of CARBOHYDRATES, the liver helps in regulating the circulating levels through:

  • storage of large amounts of glycogen
  • conversion of galactose and fructose to glucose; and
  • Gluconeogenesis which occurs when glucose concentration falls below normal

In the metabolism of LIPIDS (fat), the liver helps in regulating the circulating levels through:

  • oxidation of fatty acids to supply energy for other body functions; and
  • synthesis of large quantities of cholesterol, phospholipids and most lipoproteins

In metabolism of proteins (AMINO ACIDS),

the liver helps in regulating the circulating levels through:

  • Deamination of amino acids
  • formation of urea for removal of ammonia from the body fluids; and
  • formation of plasm proteins

Therefore, the ORGAN that regulates the circulating levels of amino acids, carbohydrates, and lipids is the LIVER

Use the drop-down menus to label the organelles in the picture to the right label A
Sergeu [11.5K]
<h3><u>Answer;</u></h3>

Label A; Mitochondria.

Label B; Nucleus.

Label C; Golgi apparatus.

Label D; Rough endoplasmic reticulum

<h3><u>Explanation;</u></h3>
  • All the above are various organelles in a eukaryotic cells each carrying different cellular activity to enhance the functioning of a cell.

Label A; Mitochondria.

  • <u>Mitochondria</u> is the powerhouse of the cell which converts glucose to energy rich molecules of ATP, through the process of cellular respiration.

Label B; Nucleus.

  • <u>Nucleus</u> contains the genetic material or DNA, RNA , nucleolus, chromatin fibres and proteins. It contains the chromosomes which control the hereditary characteristics. It also regulates all the activities of the cell.

Label C; Golgi apparatus.

  • <u>Golgi apparatus;</u> they are also called Golgi bodies. They function in modifying, sorting and packaging of proteins for secretion. They are also involved in the transport of lipids around the cell, and the creation of lysosomes.

Label D; Rough endoplasmic reticulum

  • <u>The rough endoplasmic reticulum</u> provides surface for protein synthesis. It is also used to transport cellular contents from one cell to another.
  • The risbosomes attached on the rough endoplasmic reticulum are resposible for the protein synthesis through the process of translation.

1-. CONTESTE FALSO (F) O VERDADERO
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

Which type of proteins can function as chemical messengers or as receptors in the plasma membrane? a. enzyme b. communication c.
maria [59]

The type of proteins that can function as the chemical messengers or as the receptors in the plasma membrane is a communication proteins; option A.

Proteins are large macromolecules composed of chains of amino acid units linked together by peptide bonds.

Proteins serve various functions such as:

communication

transport

defensive

enzyme

Communication of proteins such as the hormones can be function as the chemical messengers or as receptors in the plasma membrane.

Proteins are made up of hundreds or the thousands of the smaller units called as amino acids, which are attached to one another in the long chains. There are about 20 different types of amino acids that can be combined to make a protein.
