Explanation:

The Communists were able to gain the support of the farmers who were the largest proportion of the population in China by promising them land ownership. To this end, the Communists would seize land from landowners whenever they took over a province and redistribute it to farmers.

They did not do this in very single province however with some provinces seeing them leaving the landowners with some land and redistributing the rest which earned them both the loyalty of the farmers and some landowners as well.
