Linear function definition: a function that will create a straight line when graphed.

11 is not a linear function (not a straight line), but 12 is.

For the tables, you can either plot out the graph or just look at the number patterns. A linear function's numbers will always increase/decrease accordingly at a constant rate. For example, in 14, you notice that as x increases by 1, y decreases by 2. This means it is a linear graph.

In 13, as x increases by 1, the output y increases but at a different rate each time. It increased by 3 at first, then 5, then 7. Hence, it is not a linear function. What is it then? It is an exponential function.

Riya is applying mulch to her garden. she applies it at a rate of 250 , 000 cm 3 250,000 cm 3 250, comma, 000, start text, space
Tatiana [17]

The rate in

\frac{ {m}^{3} }{ {m}^{2} }  \: is \:0.25\frac{ {m}^{3} }{ {m}^{2} }

<h3>How to find rate is riya applying mulch in m^3/m^2 ?</h3>

given that riya applies it at a rate of 250,000 cm^3 of mulch for every m^2 of garden space.

we already know that 1m = 100cm.

so, each side of this cube is 100cm in length.

so,100 \times 100 \times 100 \: {cm}^{3}  \: in \:  {m}^{3}

To find what is the volume in cubic metres.

\frac{250000}{10000000}  =  \frac{1}{4}  = 0.25 \frac{ {m}^{3} }{ { m}^{2} }

so, the rate is0.25 \frac{ {m}^{3} }{ {m}^{2} }

Andrews [41]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : y is the time in hours that it takes Micheal to travel to his grandparents house,

            x is his average speed in miles per hour.

To Find: What does the number 60 represents

Solution :

Time= y

x = speed

So, To find distance we will use formula :

Time = \frac{Distance}{Speed}

y = \frac{Distance}{x}  -- A

Given function: y = \frac{60}{x} --B

On comparing A and B

Distance = 60 miles

So, 60 represents the distance .
