    You convert 10 km to mm by moving the decimal point 6 places to the right, since you'd be decreasing the units (km is larger than mm), and thus you will get a greater value in the end. I believe you'd go from 10.0 km to 10.000000 and then move the decimal point so that there isn't one (you'd get 10000000). I might be wrong, though.
