English
1 answer:

Answer:

Negative.

Explanation:

For the first sentence, "Kayla and Jacob were rivals in the swimming contest." The word rivals means they are enemies and are competing against one another in the contest. So it has a negative connotation.

The second sentence, "Leah was known for her mysterious plots." By mentioning that she is "known for" her plots, it implies she is notoriously famous for her plots. Also, someone who "plots" is not normally described as a positive person, so the answer to both is negative.

In The Donner Party, what was the effect of the Donner Party not moving ahead to Fort Laramie?
Deffense [45]
They stopped at a better location with grazing for cattle and shops for wagon repairs.

They planned on going to Fort Laramie but decided to stop at Fort Bernard instead (10 miles east of Fort Laramie) because they were warned that Indians were fighting ahead, the grazing for cattle was poor at Fort Laramie, and they could get wagon repairs at Fort Bernard.

Appeal to emotion. He's trying to manipulate people's emotions by saying things like ""deserves the love and thanks" which is very positive. Who wouldn't want to be loved and thanked by others? I think he's trying to say that if you fight, you will be honored.

Appeal to ethics is when the writer tries to convince the reader that he is knowledgeable about the subject like if he said, "As a doctor...." But he doesn't refer to himself in this passage.

Appeal to logic would be using facts, reasoning, evidence, and stuff, but I don't see a lot of facts here.

Appeal to authority would be him saying that because another person said something, it must be true. But he doesn't refer to anyone else here.
